King Henry VIII

One of England’s most notorious monarchs, Henry Tudor was known for his six wives, the Divorce from first 1st wife (to marry his second) that caused his excommunication by the Pope, and the subsequent founding of the Church of England, where he appointed himself as Supreme Head of the Church.

He was loved by his people, even though extreme mood-swings caused hundreds of his subjects to be executed, as he shifted between his Catholic upbringing and his own desire for ultimate power.

“the longer the days are, the more distant is the sun, and nevertheless the hotter; so is it with our love, for by absence we are kept a distance from one another, and yet it retains its fervour…”
~ King Henry to Anne Boleyn

“King Henry VIII” is a 16″x20″ acrylic painting from my series of cat portraits known as the “Tudor Cats Collection”, which includes his six wives.

Archival prints of King Henry VIII can be purchased here in my shop, and from me personally at shows.
