Cleocatra

  • Cleocatra Cat by TaraFly

“Cleocatra” is an acrylic painting on a canvas panel, measuring 5″x7″. She was painted for the Rabbit Hole Artist Collective’s July 2016 auction, “Ancient Worlds”.

Cleopatra was the last Egyptian pharoah, in the Greek line of Ptolemy (after the death of Alexander the Great). She was famously involved romantically with Julius Caesar and Mark Anthony, bearing children with them both. She was recognized in Egypt as the goddess Isis, and so she is depicted here.

“(Anthony:)
Let Rome in Tiber melt and the wide arch Of the ranged empire fall.
Here is my space. Kingdoms are clay…”

~ William Shakespeare, “Anthony and Cleopatra”

Archival prints and other gifts featuring Cleocatra can be purchased in my shop, and from me personally at shows.
