Cat Portraits

I specialize in anthropomorphic artwork of cats, dressed in clothing, and usually based upon characters in literature or periods of history. Roughly half of my paintings have been private commissions and custom portraits of pets.

I genuinely look forward to meeting people who envision their cats as Caesars and Ciceros, kings and courtesans … and will seldom pass up the opportunity to add fresh faces to my cast of characters.

Have you have ever considered having your cat’s portrait painted as an English dandy, wearing a ruffled jabot and waistcoat…?
Or does your feline possesses a flirtatious manner that might suit an 19th century lady of the night…?
Perhaps your furry friend strikes you as the adventurous explorer, or dashing aviator type?
Might he be a sea caption?
Or a crusader for the Knight’s Templar?

If so… I’d love to hear from you! Share your story!

I am currently accepting commissions on a limited basis… please contact me using the form at the bottom, and we can discuss your wants, needs and ideas.. as well as the deadline for completion.

Pricing

Prices will, of course, reflect the size and intricacy of the piece; generally, however, an 8″x10″ acrylic portrait with a simple background, on a stretched canvas with painted edges (ready-to-hang), will cost approximately $150.00. (this price does not include whichever shipping method we decide upon)

An 8″x10″ acrylic portrait with simple background, painted onto a sheet of Canson fine art paper, suitable for framing, will cost approx. $100.00. (shipping excluded)

I can also create digital paintings of any size, e-mailed directly to you, which may be printed yourself for non-commercial purposes; a jpg file measuring 8″ x 10″ at 300 dpi would cost approx. $75.00.

A non-refundable 20% down-payment will be required, to help offset the purchase of any supplies, and to secure the deadline.
The remaining 80% will be due upon completion, before I ship the painting; alternately, you have the option to put it “on layaway” and pay in small installments if you prefer. :)

How It Works

After receiving your cats’ photos via e-mail attachments or through the mail, and discussing all the details of your desired portrait with you…

I will e-mail a sketch of the piece, colored in pencil, to give you the opportunity to look over its design and color scheme… and make any changes… before I begin work on the actual painting.

I will also send snapshots via e-mail of the painting at various stages of my progress, to keep the lines of communication open. I want you to feel comfortable knowing that we’ll work together to achieve a piece of art worthy of an honored place in your home. :)

The length of time varies with each painting, but please be prepared for a 4-6 week wait (not including the shipping time), and order with your deadline well in advance.
If I am not currently working on a commissioned painting, I will make yours my top priority… but it does take some time.

Once I’m finished, and you’re totally satisfied with the preview images I send… I will ship the painting to you in whichever method we decided upon (First Class, UPS, etc.), after payment has been received.
If for some reason it doesn’t meet with your approval in person, please let me know upon receipt and I’ll accept it back for corrections or a refund.
