Renaissance Madonna Cat Portrait of the Virgin Mary

$400.00

"And she brought forth her first-born Litter, and wrapped Them in swaddling clothes, and laid Them in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." Tabbicus 2:7 (from the FIV: Feline Intl. Version)

The Holy Trinity and the Blessed Mother are depicted here as a cat family, invoking a Renaissance style.
This piece was conceptualized back in my childhood, when I sculpted a feline Nativity for my grandmother's collection. I keep returning to cats and religion, wondering how animals might interpret our beliefs.

"Madonna Cat" was painted onto a stretched canvas, measuring 9"W x 12"H (22.86 cm x 30.48 cm) using acrylic paints. It has been signed and dated on the back, and sealed with a matte varnish. Although the canvas sides have been painted in Payne's Grey, in case you would rather forego framing, I would personally recommend framing under glass for longevity. She comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

I ship my canvas paintings wrapped in acid-free cellophane, and shipped in boxes with cardboard and bubblewrap and/or shredded paper.
