The 2017 Art For the Animals charity auction held their “tail-end reception” on October 21st, at Howards’ Arts & Frames in Hagerstown, MD.
We were able to raise nearly $3,500 to benefit the Washington County Humane Society! My Lizzy Bennet cat painting sold for $55. She is pictured here in the gorgeous gold frame that Howards’ staff provided.
The quality of artwork submitted by local artists keeps getting better each year. I purchased five paintings via the auction, two for myself & three for gifts. If you live in the tri-state area, I encourage you to check out the 2018 AFTA art auction next October! You are sure to find a treasure, and best of all, 100% of the proceeds go to charity! :)
I have been wanting to paint “A Christmas Carol” cat portrait for awhile now, and have completed several sketches inspired by various scenes in the story. I decided to begin with the old grump himself. A hairless Sphinx cat makes the purr-fect Ebenezer Scrooge, don’t you think? :D
This portrait will be completed in acrylics, on an 8″x10″ gallery-wrapped canvas. It will probably be priced between $300-$400.
I will also be working this week on a series of individually hand-painted “cat face” Christmas ornaments, on 4″x4″ canvases. Each will have a hook to be hung on a tree, or they can be displayed on a miniature easel that I will include with the purchase of an ornament. They will be available soon in my Etsy shop & from my booth at the farmer’s market.
I will be in my usual winter stall at the market this Saturday, the 25th, and the following three Saturdays ~ December 2nd, 9th, and 16th. The market is open from 8am – 2pm. It is located at the Carroll County Ag Center, 700 Agriculture Dr. Westminster, MD 21157.
I am running a couple of holiday promotions on my website & in my Etsy store:
The coupon code for free shipping expires on Monday night, 11/27, at 11:59PM EST. However, the “10% off $25+ orders” deal will actually run through November 30th. If you stop by my booth at the market on Saturday, you will get 10% off your purchase as well. #shopsmall2017 #shoplocal
Thank you for supporting an independent artist! :)
