Owl and Pussycat, National Audubon Art Auction

My new painting, “The Owl and The Pussycat”, inspired by Edward Lear’s poem of the same name… will be up for auction to raise funds for the National Audubon Society.

50 artists are participating in the fundraiser, beginning on Friday, January 20th, at 8pm (EST) and runs through January 27th, ending at 7pm.

This original piece was created in acrylics on a canvas panel measuring 5″x7″. It comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, and ships unframed.

The auction is being hosted by the Changeling Artist Collective on their Facebook page. I am not a member of the Changelings, but they graciously opened this charity auction to guest fantasy artists wishing to participate.

How Facebook Art Auctions Work

The auction will go live at 8pm (EST) on January 20th. Anytime after 8pm (EST), you can click on the auction album link (here) to view all the paintings available. You must be logged into Facebook to place a bid.

Bidding will start at $5 per painting. To place a bid, simply comment ( i.e. “I bid $xx” ) on the artwork image within the album.

Below is an example of how bidding works. This screenshot was taken from an auction hosted by my art collective, the Rabbits… (click to view larger)

Artwork won at auction will be shipped from the individual artists’ studios. The shipping fees are separate from the bids, and will be stated in the description of each piece. I am personally requesting $5 to ship domestically, and $15 to ship internationally.

Rachel Quinlan, the organizer of this auction, will be collecting all payments, and distributing the shipping funds to artists to cover those costs. The rest of the proceeds will be sent directly to the Audubon Society via check.

“Once all pieces have been paid and shipped, I will write a check to the National Audubon Society and send it off. I expect to receive a letter from them with our donation amount as a receipt, and will make sure to post it publicly. ~ Rachel Quinlan (director of Operation Gaia)

If you have any questions about my artwork, feel free to comment below! If you have questions about the auction itself, you can message the Changeling Artist Collective on Facebook or send them an e-mail:
